Svalvald Photo
Thank you for viewing my profile. I am a photographer living in Japan and an artist who creates art photos based on my works. Living in Shizuoka Prefecture, I naturally encountered photography and cameras. When I first started taking pictures, I used a digital camera, and on my days off, I would visit botanical gardens in the prefecture and photograph camellias and other plants. After purchasing a mirrorless single-lens camera, I became more serious about photography, and since 2021, I have become interested in Japanese wildflowers and have been actively traveling to Shizuoka, Aichi, and Nagano prefectures.
At first, I was doing photography as an extension of my hobby, but as the number of opportunities for my followers to evaluate me on SNS increased, I decided that I wanted to make photography a full-fledged career, which is where I am today. Japanese wildflowers are distributed in a variety of environments, from flatlands to alpine zones. I think spring and summer are the most important seasons for photographing wildflowers. Katakuri and other species bloom profusely from mid-March to April. When I shoot while talking to the wildflowers, I feel the joy of the arrival of spring and the dynamism of life, which makes me very happy and excited. The reason why I go shooting even when I climb mountains in summer is because I want to convey to many people the beauty of alpine plants that can only be seen for a few days. I feel that being able to be moved by the brilliance of life is the real pleasure of photography. I would be happy if people all over the world could learn about the natural beauty of their own countries through my works.

Harurindou • 7 artworks
View allHarurindou is one of the spring-blooming gentians that grows wild in Japan and is very popular as a spring wildflower.
At the same time that Yoshino cherry trees are in full bloom all over the Japanese archipelago, Harurindou blooms in the grass and meadows in the sunlight, making it look like a shining sapphire.
I am fascinated by their wonderful blue glow.
Why not enjoy the arrival of spring by decorating your room with Harurindou's beautiful works like blue jewels?

From late August through September, you can see Oyamarindou blooming all over Shiga Kogen in Nagano Prefecture.

Don’t miss this impressive solo exhibition by Kazuhisa Oishi
Kazuhisa Oishi’s solo exhibition, “Blossoms Through Time: A Tribute to Japan’s Natural Heritage,” is an eloquent meditation on the delicate relationship between time, nature, and cultural identity. Through his lens, Oishi captures Japan’s wildflowers—cherry blossoms, camellias, hydrangeas, and the rare kumagaisou—as symbols of both ephemerality and resilience, echoing Japan’s centuries-old reverence for the changing seasons.

No one knows who planted it, but there is a large Himalayan cherry tree at the foot of Mount Takakusa in Yaizu City, which blooms in full bloom at this time of year every year.
Himalayan cherry trees are not native to Japan, but they have taken root in this place and continue to fascinate visitors.
