Glossy finish
Apart from its exceptional thickness, the fiber paper is composed of an alpha-cellulose base without acid and it is covered with barium sulphate, and a microporous layer absorption enhancing pigments during printing. A pure white color, non-yellowing to light, this paper is especially designed for resistance and aging. Stefano Catalini is a contemporary Italian artist whose artistic journey began at the age of 10. Encouraged by an art teacher, he enrolled in the Istituto Statale d'Arte (ISA) in 1976 but left early in 1979 to study at the Academy of Fine Arts in Macerata. There, he studied under prominent figures such as Remo Brindisi, Magdalo Mussio, and Armando Ginesi, completing his education in 1983.
Catalini held his first solo exhibition in 1978 in an old printing house. The following year, he developed a passion for black-and-white photography, building a darkroom in a family farmhouse that also served as his studio for years. In 1980, he co-founded the GEF Group with three fellow Academy students, marking the start of his collaborative endeavors.
During the early 1980s, Catalini’s interest in visual communication, silkscreen, and lithographic printing flourished. His work in these mediums gained recognition for its stylistic precision and formal rigor. For two decades, he worked as a graphic designer and creative director, quietly continuing his painting practice.
In the early 2000s, Catalini reignited his passion for fine art printing, focusing on the meticulous craft of chalcographic engraving. This renewed dedication marked a significant evolution in his artistic career, blending his mastery of visual communication with his lifelong commitment to the fine arts.
Stefano Catalini’s work reflects a harmonious balance between traditional techniques and contemporary artistic expression, cementing his place in the modern art world.
