BALIOS

Richard[...]

Richard Routin, a contemporary French artist, traces his artistic journey back to his earliest childhood memories, driven by an unwavering quest for freedom. Drawing and painting have always served as a sanctuary for him, offering a release from the constraints of reality and the anxieties of disappointing others.

For Richard, art is not just a form of expression; it is a necessity, a lifeline that has accompanied him throughout his entire existence. From his earliest recollections, he cannot recall a moment when he was not compelled to pick up his pencils and brushes.

Despite eschewing formal art education, Richard's dedication and passion have fueled his exploration of personal artistic paths. Through trial and error, he has forged his own creative identity, unencumbered by the confines of traditional instruction.

The motif of the horse in Richard's work stems from a profound encounter — not only with his wife, who shares his deep connection to these majestic creatures, but also with the inherent symbolism of freedom and unity embodied by the horse. This symbiotic relationship, where the human becomes instinctual and the animal reveals human-like emotions, serves as a wellspring of inspiration and introspection for Richard.

Influenced by artistic luminaries such as Phidias, Géricault, Degas, and Picasso, Richard's work reflects a fusion of diverse impressions and influences. He is particularly drawn to the magical realm of artists like Bartabas, who demonstrate the inseparable bond between art and the horse, blurring the boundaries between these two worlds.

Today, Richard Routin embraces a new phase in his artistic journey, one characterized by a desire for connection and vulnerability. By sharing his sensitivity and emotions through his art, he seeks to evoke a profound response in others, inviting them to experience the intoxicating sensation of artistic expression.
