Natalie Levkovska
Natalie Levkovska is an experienced Lithuanian painter and illustrator. In 1995, she obtained a degree in stone, bone and wood processing from a master artist (Abramtsevo College of Applied Arts), and in 1999 she completed a degree in costume design (Vilnius Academy of Arts). In 2006, she decided to change her life: she moved to London to work in a design studio, and started to experiment oil painting.

Her artistic universe is a kind of magic realism: she likes to show real life objects and try to bring out the magical pulsation of space. The plots of her creations are taken from her life: a birch glade near her house at different times of the year, the portrait of a loved one, her village in the snow...
Natalie Levkovska have organized 19 personal exhibitions, participated in a lot of paintings and drawings events, and her drawings can be found in many private collections.

View allThis cycle focuses on exploring one's identity, sexuality, taboos, fears, beauty and dance.
Life in general can be described as a dance. It has a main motif, there are repetitive elements of movement, which in different combinations create something new in the overall composition and, of course, the finale with the curtain falling. Dance, if you are involved in it wholly, can create an energy swirl that for that given moment can swell space in time.

View allIn an abstract picture, it's easier to express emotion, the movement of energy. But in my opinion abstract doesn't always convey a narrative, while I like to tell a story with my work. So, I decided to experiment in this series: combining an abstract background and a rather realistic figurative composition.
All the drawings are made in class from live nature.
Secret Garden • 15 artworks
View allSince I am an amateur gardener, if I have the opportunity to visit a beautiful garden, I will definitely try to do it. We climbed a high hill, from the top of which a panorama of the city sinking in the rays of the evening sun was opened; somewhere nearby someone was playing guitar and singing; children with a cheerful hubbub ran through the square until they fell into the hands of caring parents; a long line of tourists, shifting from foot to foot, slowly moved towards the huge old door. I don’t know what others felt, but my mind painted fantastic and mystical landscapes of unreal beauty that would open to me as soon as I looked through the keyhole of this door. When my turn came, I bent down, looked through the doorway and saw a garden, an alley, a path, a view of the temple ... now I don’t remember what exactly I was looking at. Apparently, the very feeling of a miracle and a premonition of it were much stronger than what I actually saw.
This year I started a new series of drawings. The process of creating a work begins with drawing in class with other artists from live model. Later in my studio, I finish drawing the details that help to reveal the image of model itself and tell the viewer a fictional story that I saw in the process of drawing. Sometimes, as a background, I use landscapes of places I have seen or some texts or words that accidentally or not pop up in my mind. Sometimes some details in the Doodle style or echoes of old prints are woven into the canvas of the narrative, bringing a touch of frivolity and light irony into my refined world of dreams and nostalgia for a lost paradise. The light, faded range of colors creates a mood of melancholy and light timeless sadness. I named this series of works Secret Garden, in memory of the Orange Garden, which in a bizarre way combined the past and the present, the fictional and the real, something that is outside, but that cannot be captured if it does not appear outside.

Мы остановились в Риме в начале октября. Теплое солнце, удивительное ощущение покоя и какой-то легкой беспечности. К концу дня подустав от поглощения мест, дышащих вечностью, решили посетить место под названием Orange Garden.

The 400th anniversary of the martyrdom of St. Juozapat
Vilnius Cathedral of St. Holy Trinity Greek Rite Catholic Church
Me with my painting "Sant Josaphat" at Vilnius Cathedral of St. Holy Trinity Greek Rite Catholic Church.
Well, one could say that my mission has come to its finale. This Saturday my husband and I visited the Church of St. Trinity, to which were donated paintings dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the martyrdom of St. Juozapat.
When I first stepped into the center aisle of the church in May of this year, I saw how much restoration work this place needs. Now, a half year later, I see how much cozier and warmer the place is becoming. And this is not only because the walls of the church have been decorated with our works, and simple details of the interior have appeared all around, telling that this place is being cared for. It is because this place is slowly filling up with life. I witnessed how during services and on weekdays, individuals and families come here, needing to be supported and relieved. Many Ukrainians forced to leave their homes in their homeland gather here to pray.
I believe that in time this place will be reconstructed and it will become even more beautiful. There will be funds and people willing to join the restoration of this historically significant place. Just as Ukraine will surely recover and become even more beautiful, free and wealthier.

group exhibition "Gyvūnų metai" / ”Year of the Animal”
This year is the 9-th time “Open House Vilnius” is taking place. Every year, in spring there is an open architecture weekend, when a variety of buildings are open to the public, where volunteer guides lead excursions talking about the history of the house, its architect and the people associated with the place. It all happens to be very interesting. This weekend, the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs will open its doors to the public, where a group exhibition "Gyvūnų metai" / ”Year of the Animal” is being held, in which my works are also participating. The exhibition participants are A. Šemberaitė, Bražiūnas, N. Levkovska, curator of the exhibition - L. Liandzbergis.
solo exhibition "Vėjo ošimas“/ “Wind rustle"
Dear friends, I kindly invite you to visit my solo exhibition "Vėjo ošimas“/ “Wind rustle", which is taking place now at the Compensa Concert Hall, Vilnius. The exhibition features 25 paintings and drawings created over the last three years. The exhibition runs until 25 of February. Chin-chin! :)
Exhibition "Pre-Quadrennial'2022. LDS Communities: gangs, groups and individuals"
Artists, for the most part, are individualists. Rarely one needs a team to create the product, except for large projects. For all their love of creating alone, artists sometimes join together in creative unions. This is how sculptors and stained-glass artists come together for technical reasons. Ceramicists also like to share a common workspace. And then there are communities of artists who are united not by technological processes, but by a desire to share philosophical and aesthetic values; or they are united by friendship. This exhibition brings together the Artworks of various currently active creative groups.
About 10 years ago, I joined a group of artists called the “Secret Society of Draughtsmen”/ “Slaptoji piešiančiųjų draugija”, who over the years had come together to draw professionally from life. At first the group was formed by people who had graduated from the Department of Monumental Painting, but gradually stained-glass artists, sculptors, graphic artists, designers, and architects joined it. Each with his own unique style of work, but all of us, I think, are united by a love of live drawing and a moral aesthetic attitude toward the beauty of the human body.
A very interesting and timely concept of the exhibition curated by Aistė Kisarauskaitė and supported by the Lithuanian Union of Artists /LDS/, bringing together many different creative groups. I am very happy that my work has been included in this exhibition, which is being held at the Panevezys Civic Art Gallery and is a general rehearsal for next year's Vilnius Quadrennial.
Exhibition “SILENT GARDEN" / "TYLUSIS SODAS"
Exhibition of paintings and drawings “SILENT GARDEN" at the art gallery "Fojė", Trakai.
"My garden is made of roses, wild grasses, white rabbits running through cabbage blossoms, roots looking to the sky, my dreams and memories. A garden where past and present, fiction and reality are intricately combined, something that is inside but cannot be perceived until it manifests itself outside."
In this exhibition, the series of figurative drawings "Secret Garden" is combined with recent paintings dominated by plants.

international art fair Art Compensa 2022
personal exhibition "Will everything be grass again?"
On February 24, I entered the studio, looked at the work I had begun, and sadly thought that all this was not important. Today it doesn't matter at all. A year ago, when I was planning this series of works, the issues of ecology of the surrounding world and individual existentialism seemed very significant and relevant. But war turns everything upside down and exposes other values such as peace, freedom and human dignity. It sounds like a poster in peacetime, but today, against the background of destroyed cities, millions of disturbed lives and numerous human losses, this becomes very important and basic, without which all other questions become just empty forms.
I believe that one day peace will come and one will begin to pay attention to issues of ecology and human existence.
In this series of works, I combined two topics that are important for me: the attitude towards nature as part of one's living space and the existential question of the individual personality.
In the cycle, I mix paintings with views of pines that protect the dunes from marine corrosion; views of flowering meadows with fragments of vintage sculptures drowning in flowers and photographs of garbage left in the forest, taken during walks in the nearest surroundings. When I stumble upon something like this, usually in very beautiful, picturesque corners of nature, I ask myself: where in human nature does the need to destroy the beautiful come from? When I think about it, I find a lot of suggestions, but perhaps one of the main answers is: “it will all be overgrown with grass over time.”
Which, in general, become an epigraph for this exhibition: “in the end everything will be grass again”.
10-th "SLAPTŲJŲ PIEŠĖJŲ DRAUGIJOS" annual group exhibition of drawings.
The opening of the 10th annual group exhibition of drawings. More than 25 artists, united under the name of the "Secret Society of Draftsmen" presented their work to the audience. Happy to be part of it!

with wonderful music of Benjamin Clementine https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benjamin_Clementine

The pandemic has dramatically affected many aspects of our cultural life: canceled exhibitions, concert tours, performances, industrial fairs and sporting events postponed indefinitely. Therefore, I was very pleased when art project "Neatšaukti atidarymai" where artists could virtually present their works to the public was initiated by V. Dambrauskas.
And, of course, I would like to mention the project "Menas be stogo" organized by JCDecaux Lietuva with the support of the Vilnius Municipality, where hundreds of artists during the pandemic have presented their works on the streets of the city.
I am very happy to participate in this project. Thanks to the organizers and my beloved City for such a great opportunity!

Little turtle’s life begins. After nearly 20 years of break, it’s nice to sculpt something, maybe not so big ang great, something rather small and cozy, like a little turtle. It’s just a beginning and I’m not sure about the final result. But we shall see.

It was so great Art event!
I am very happy I was a part of this incredible “Art Compensa” project. So many great artists under one roof.
Want to thank the organizers, all participants, and visitors.
