Mario Martinec was born february, 6. 1982 in Zagreb, Croatia. At a very young age, he started to show talent for drawing. In 1992, he enrolled a drawing and painting course with prof. Emil Robert Tanay who taught him all basics of composition as well as drawing and painting techniques. The effects were quickly seen at numerous group exhibitions of childrens works in the "Bank of Zagreb", museum "Mimara", and the museum "Klovićevi dvori". At about that time, one of his paintigs was printed in a serios art magazine „Kontura“ . With firm foundations, in 1996 he moved to Bethesda, Maryland (USA) where he enrolled in high-school. Whilst in high-school, he studied advanced techniques of painting and drawing as well as art in other mediums such as photography, sculpture and ceramics. He was a part of group exhibitions in Bethesda(Maryland) i Washington D.C. Also, he was a part of group projects such as large murals. In 1999 he returns to Zagreb, graduating one year earlier. He spends a lot of time studying ancient and forgotten techniques of old masters of renaissance. He lives and works in Zagreb, Croatia.
