This was a self portrait that had been left unfinished for a decade and this year I had a vision for it of a waterfall crashing onto my shoulders. I used reference pictures of Niagara Falls for the water, but much of it was created from my own imagination, to mix the images as I saw in my head. Niagara Falls is the area where my mother's family comes from. Whenever I stand in front of it, it's hard not to feel a spiritual presence in the power and vastness of time it represents, in it's unending roar. This makes me think about the eternal nature of my own life, a realization that hits like the crash of water in the image. The t-shirt in the painting is one I bought at a Radiohead concert in 2008, featuring the lyrics, "No matter how it ends, no matter how it starts."

Born in 1986 in Buffalo, New York, Jeffry grew up on the beach with artist parents and moved to New York City in 2002 at the age of 15 to attend the Professional Performing Arts School’s acting program. After eleven years of struggling to stay in the city, in 2013 at age 26 he returned to Western New York and his family. 

Back in his father’s studio and able to paint again for the first time in years, Burke rediscovered his love of the medium and immediately began creating a variety of work. Over the following decade he has continued to develop his own unique style and voice as an artist, selling and being commissioned for new works.
