Jean-Pierre Emond, born in 1959, is a designer and design artist living and working in Belgium. Specializing in the use of graphite, pencil, pastel and charcoal on paper, he developed a unique style combining figurative outline, portraiture, exploration of the human form, minimalism and abstraction. His influences include masters such as Albrecht Dürer, Egon Schiele and Giovanni Boldini.
Since 2020, Jean-Pierre has continued his continuing education in portraiture in Liège, Wallonia, Belgium, constantly deepening his expertise and perfecting his technique. He describes himself as a passionate self-taught artist, constantly searching for new ways to capture the essence of his subjects.
Jean-Pierre Emond draws the strength of his work from the striking contrast of black and white. He uses shadow to bring out light, creating an intense and lively dynamic in each of his drawings. This mastery of chiaroscuro allows him to reveal unique stories and unexpected life paths through the faces he draws.
Each portrait is an adventure for Jean-Pierre, an opportunity to discover and reveal the soul hidden behind each expression. “Who in you will find you today?” is the question that animates each creation, encouraging the observer to get lost in the gaze of his works and to discover profound truths.
His works are marked by a vitality and emotional intensity that captivate and surprise. One admirer described his work as follows: "Every face is a story and every story is about to reveal itself. It's like standing in front of a mirror."
