Contrary to what one might think, Isshogai is not Japanese but French. His surname, which means 'for life' in the Land of the Rising Sun, he chose it through an internet forum, like another nickname. A nickname that brought him luck since he has since become one of the most courted fashion photographers.
However, nothing predisposed him to this career. Holder of a BTS in computer science, Isshogai began in the world of work as an after-sales service technician in an electronics company. He then became a regulatory assistant in an SAMU, then a computer security engineer at EADS.
It was not until 2003, when he was already in his thirties, that he took up photography. The reason: he was offered an S-5000. What started out as a hobby soon became more serious when his employer fired him. Isshogai then enrolled at the famous Gobelins school to follow professional training in “analog and digital photography”.
Everything then happens very quickly. By dint of motivation and thanks to a personal style very "cinema", the thirty-year-old beginner begins to be spotted. He ended up being admitted into the very closed circle of fashion photography, never to leave it. Designers all over the world now call on him and his pictures can be found in the biggest magazines or plastered in 4x3s on billboards.
