Trompe L’oeil “Views To Go” : I started my “Views To Go” collection while living in Hawaii. My art studio was a portion of a converted garage with one small window. I played with the idea of painting a faux window on one of the walls, but decided a canvas painting would be more practical as I could take my “view” with me when I moved. Happily, My “Views To Go” series has become quite popular. It seems most people enjoy a room with a view, whether it’s real or a whimsical trompe l’oeil. These acrylic-on-canvas paintings require no framing, as the finished sides are painted to add credibility to the illusion.

La Galleria di “Vedute A Portar Via”: Questa collezione ho cominciato quando abitavo in Hawaii. Mio studio d’arte è stato in un garage con una piccola finestra sola. Ho pensata dipingere una finestra sul muro, ma ho deciso che sarebbe più practicale dipingere sulla tela, così se cambierò le case potrei portare via “la veduta.” Mi fa piacere che la mia collezione di “Vedute A Portar Via” è diventato molto richiesta. Pare che la gente godono una stanza con veduta, se è reale o un trompe l’oeil. Questi quadri sono tutti dipinto con acrilico su tela, e non ce il bisogno incorniciare siccome i lati sono dipinto a far credibilità all'illusione.

I’m not clear what sparked my fascination with architecture; maybe I was a carpenter or stonemason in another life. Whatever the reason, the fact is, I love to paint buildings and houses. Each one has its own personality and poses its individual challenges to the artist. Certainly, Italy’s diverse architecture is a persistent lure. From the Tyrolean influence in the north, to the beehive-shaped Trulli in the south, Italy offers a diversity of architecture second to none. New England Gallery: When I tell people that we moved from Hawaii to Connecticut, the first response is always “Why?” After living in the CT River Valley for the past 2 years, my answer is still a resounding, “Because it’s so beautiful!” Connecticut is an artist’s paradise. In addition to the vibrant explosion of fall colors, the ocean, rivers, lakes, state and national parks, and quaint villages offer endless vistas to capture on canvas.

During my ten years living in Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii, I had the good fortune to devote myself full-time to painting. Guided by “Auntie Carol” at the Kona Art Center, I followed my inner-artist’s voice to paint what I loved. Artist, Roseanne Ng, taught me to “kiss” each painting with a splash of red. And without critiques from fellow artists: Nicolina Rinaldi, Barbara Gleason, Lisa Bunge, Christina Elliston, and Carmela Brooks, I would still be dabbling in the dark.

Coi consigli di “Zia Carol” alla Kona Art center, ho seguito la mia voce di artista interna a dipingere quello che amavo. Biography
Pamela Allegretto Franz attended Colorado University Extension in Denver, and later moved to Florence, Italy where she studied art and Italian at L’Università Per Gli Stranieri. To finance her education her job résumé was as colorful as the Renaissance city itself. She shivered as an artist’s model and sang the blues in catacomb nightclubs. She worked as an interpreter/translator for a textile company and hawked leather goods to tourists.
Back on US soil, the colors on her résumé remained vibrant. In addition to Italian teacher at Berlitz School of Languages and a two-year stint as a Playboy Bunny, she added hairdresser/salon owner, to her palette. Classes in writing, cartooning, and art filled whatever free hours remained.
In 1996 Pamela sold the hair salon and moved with her husband to Hawaii, where, for the following ten years, she devoted herself fulltime to painting and writing. Now, a resident of Connecticut, Pamela divides her time between painting, writing, and Italian poetry translations.
Pamela paints primarily in acrylic and watercolor. Her published art work includes book and CD covers, illustrations, and cartoons. Comprised in her collaborative efforts are patina and painted metal wall sculptures on display in Hawaiian galleries, and latex molded figure sculptures on exhibit in galleries and museums worldwide.
Pamela's published writings include dual-language poetry books and translations in Italian literary journals. Her published novels: BRIDGE OF SIGHS AND DREAMS and ASHES TO ASHES, DIAMONDS TO DUST are available in paperback and ebook at: Amazon and most online book stores.
She has enjoyed memberships in the Kona Art Center on the Island of Hawaii, the Connecticut River Artisans Cooperative, the East Hampton Art Association, and the East Haddam Art League.

Pamela Allegretto Franz è una Italo-Americana che abita nello stato di Connecticut negli Stati Uniti. Tanto grande è il suo amore per L’Italia che stupendi panorami di località Italiane costituiscono la maggior parte dei suoi disegni.
Per quanto riguarda i lavori artistici publicati, lei ha dipinto le illustrazioni di libri, copertini di libri, copertini di CD, fiumetti di giornali, ed innumerevoli disegni per importanti testate di stampa divulgativa e culturale.

HOLLAND WINDMILL – NATIONAL MILL DAY
Oops, I’m 2 weeks late, but better late than…….
There are over 1000 windmills in Holland, and exploring some of them makes for a great adventure. The Dutch have restored many of the historic sites, and once a year, Holland holds “NATIONAL MILL DAY.” Every second Saturday in May, 600 windmills and watermills around the country open their doors to welcome visitors. It's an opportunity to visit some of the historic mills that are no longer open on a regular basis. If you are a bicycle enthusiast, this should be on your “bucket list.”

Bridge of Sighs and Dreams
I have recently published a novel: Bridge of Sighs and Dreams. In addition to the general public, I believe this novel would be of special interest to artists, as the protagonist is a political cartoonist and portrait artist who uses her skill to help survive World War 2 Nazi occupied Italy. Nazi-occupied Rome sets the stage for Bridge of Sighs and Dreams, where the lives of two women collide in an arena of deception, greed, and sacrifice.
Following an allied attack, Angelina Rosini flees to Rome from her bombed-out village and a ruthless Nazi officer bent on revenge. In Rome, the spirited portrait artist channels her creativity into the art of survival for herself and her young daughter. Unwilling to merely endure, and armed with ingenuity, wit, and unyielding optimism, she enters the shadow world of the Resistance where she zigzags through a labyrinth of compassionate allies and cunning spies.
Meanwhile, Lidia Corsini quenches her lust for power and wealth by turning in Jews to the Nazi Police attaché with whom she has formed an alliance. Her spiral into immorality accelerates as swiftly as the Jewish population dwindles, and soon neither her husband nor her son is immune to her madness.
Once Angelina discovers the consequences of Lidia’s greed, she conspires to put an end to the treacheries; but in doing so, she becomes the target of Lidia’s most sinister plot.
Bridge of Sighs and Dreams is a story of betrayal, dignity, and purpose that highlights the brutality toward Italian citizens, under both Mussolini’s Fascist regime and the Nazi occupation, and illustrates the tenacity of the human spirit.

We are all children of our great Mother Earth, and thus, we are ONE family.
