Alfonso Sosa, a contemporary Mexican artist born in Aculco, State of Mexico, has dedicated over 40 years to the realm of visual arts. As a plastic artist, his focus encompasses both abstract and figurative styles, showcasing a rich and diverse artistic journey.
His formal training in painting took place at the National Institute of Fine Arts in Mexico City, laying the foundation for a lifelong exploration of artistic expression. Alfonso's commitment to his craft has led to the presentation of numerous individual and group exhibitions, both nationally and internationally.
Several notable exhibitions punctuate Alfonso Sosa's artistic trajectory. The "London Art" Gallery featured his work in May 2010, marking an international presence in the UK. From November 2014 to 2018, his art found a permanent residence at the "Galería Pacifico del Arte" in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. The Felipe Villanueva room hosted his individual exhibition titled "Symphony for Euterpe" from February 23 to March 30, 2018, in Toluca, State of Mexico. In August 2021, his works were part of the collective exhibition "Meeting Points" at the Museum of Modern Art of Toluca. Additionally, Alfonso Sosa's art has been on permanent display at La Aurora Factory in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, with showings at Moyshen Gallery and Guiness Gallery from 2022 to 2023.
Alfonso's artistic journey commenced at an early age when he felt compelled to capture the ideas of the mind through painting and drawing. His work is shaped by the influence of renowned artists such as Marc Chagall, Francis Bacon, and Picasso, among others.
