"The first time I met Jennifer I was struck by a drawing she was doing. A fast stroke with charcoal which as though in 'Trans' transformed what was a study of a figure into fusion of space of form. The presence of what was a study of a figure took up a role, a role of formal gestual freedom. It is this freedom that gives her the power to transform her inner most feelings of sensations lived and legimate in the new millenium a valid motive to use the medium of painting to search for expressive fulfilment.
Engulfed by a traditional environment Jennifer Lonfat emancipates herself from the pretty picture. Her paintings are witness of the tension between her radical will to change and conservatism.
Jennifer lives in Malta but has lived a world culture, and at the same time breathes the Mediterranean and this power of chromatic mass of fluid sensations always in the state of formal flux is the main source of her inspirations.
The wave as in a dance, creates a rythmic brush stroke evoking an abstract sense of depth inducing chromatic tension that in the end is finding its peace."
