Parlare di Firenze è semplice: basta descrivere di come è bella fatta così, come il tempo ed il buon
gusto, magari anche il caso, l’han formata. Io, nonostante la quantità di cose da dire, non riesco a
farlo, perché la prima cosa che mi vien da pensare è la Biennale d’Arte moderna del 2009 alla
quale partecipai e dove conobbi Janusz Plota. Esponeva non molto lontano da me ma, essendo
l’ambiente piuttosto movimentato, non avemmo occasione di parlarci, o meglio, di gesticolarci
perché lui parlava polacco ed io italiano e col suo e mio inglese avremmo potuto al massimo
indicarci la strada per il bagno.
Non so a seguito di quale ispirazione venne da me e, con gesti e parole per entrambi intuibili, mi
fece capire che aveva il furgone rotto; dedussi che avesse anche una limitata disponibilità
economica. Janusz mi fu immediatamente simpatico, sia come persona, sia come artista.
Dipingeva opere diametralmente opposte alle mie, applicando il colore con tecniche che mi ero
vietato da sempre. Telefonai ad un meccanico spiegandogli la cosa e la fortuna volle che questo
meccanico, oltre a dimostrarsi onesto, fu anche generoso nel prezzo. Janusz per ingraziarmi i
regalò un suo quadretto e, pensando non fosse sufficiente per ringraziarmi, mi fece un disegno su
carta. Negli anni, grazie ad internet, seguo Janusz che fa cose pazze ma interessanti; ogni tanto gli
metto un “mi piace” e lui lo mette a me.
