Siri Skogstad Berntsen

I explore both abstract and figurative expressions, and use several styles and techniques to communicate on moods, experience and thoughts. My abstract work moves within an expressionist or minimalist landscape. The works arise in combination of colourfields in relation towards each other, some times in patterns, other times coincidentally. The minimalist expressions are reflections over colour, sometimes texture. The works communicate from these starting points and are refound within the conceptual, in a communication with the viewers own thought and world of imagination.
The figurative works often describe humans, sometimes in everyday life recognizable situations, other times more portrait like and conceptual. The works communicate on moods, experience and thought, often within an expressionist tradition, sometimes conceptual. One can refind a historical heritage as well as ongoing contemporary streams in the use of motive, techniques and expressions
