Feeling (2021) Peinture par Sead Zejnelagic

Painting is like a pure expression. A color like a feeling holder. A gestural release of an emotion. This is to summarize the last painting cycle of a young artist Sead Zejnelagic, a student of II year of his PhD studies, at the Art Academy of Novi Sad.
By colorist variations of rich pictorial values, this painter introduces us into the world where we follow successively the works of similar theme-ruined facade walls, the ones he transposes to huge canvases. The architecture we do not notice while passing by, for Sead, is an inexhaustible theme and a light motif of complex expressive forms.
We follow the artist’s complex “feeling of surfaces” through works captivating with their pulsating, “live” texture, since they have been painted with a combined technique, i.e. in an intervention with nonorganic materials, like sand or sacks. Harmonious entities, where emphasized, rough and pasty surfaces rule, they drown and compress with the painting tissue and remind in their discourse onto patina, onto the inevitable ravages of time, but also onto eternal antipodes- archaic and urban ones.
With layered, strong, impulsively painted surfaces, numerous moves and accented substance-that have for their foundation dark red (a symbol of self-confidence) and navy blue (a depth sign)…Sead Zejnelagic plays with his coloring skillfully, and it is not just a mere narrative, but a thoughtful and permanent interaction with observers.
Several paintings differ in their coloring and a more concise approach from the majority of the presented works.
I would mark off the work “White”, of a white foundation, with a gray structure and graffiti, though in the second line, talk on the significance of the modern- in coexistence with the old.
In paintings of large formats, Sead reexamines in a specific way, the boundaries of easel painting, very spontaneously (aware-unaware) with the richness of elements that influence onto the dynamics of his pieces of art. With a suggestive coloring and structure, he follows the traces of time-the past and present ones.
