Vincent Ackermann - Saro, a native of the Lausanne suburbs, immersed himself in the vibrant atmosphere of the mid-90s, a period when Lausanne stood as the global hub for inline skating. The city hosted the International Roller Contest, attracting the best American and European riders for the world's premier event in the sport. It was amidst this dynamic backdrop that SARO, as Vincent was known, encountered and fell in love with the hip-hop culture and its accompanying graphic universe.
His early inspirations were drawn from various sources such as the rollerblading-focused magazine Daily Bread, the West Coast rap group Cypress Hill, and Arlo Eisenberg, a pioneering figure in aggressive rollerblading and graphic design. These influences sparked the creative flame within the young Vincent Ackermann.
Although a self-taught artist, Vincent initially explored painting during his teenage years. However, he found his true comfort behind the lens. Amidst his engineering studies, Vincent delved into photography and digital art, channeling his passion and artistic expression through these mediums. His journey, shaped by the energy of the Lausanne skating scene and the vibrant hip-hop culture, laid the foundation for his distinctive artistic path.
