RAMÓN CASTELLANO DE TORRES, painter born in Ceuta (Spain) in 1947, and settled in Morón de la Frontera (Seville) since 1976.
From there, away from the big cities, he has projected his creative activity in the world of plastic arts.
Ramón's pictorial career began at a very early age, since his parents were very fond of and practitioners of drawing and painting, therefore it is very difficult to say when this artistic vocation began in him.
Critics tend to frame him within the expressionist stream, but throughout his career he has brilliantly flirted with almost every trend and technique.
His cataloged work, which exceeds a thousand, is widely distributed throughout the country and abroad, for example Germany, Cuba, the Argentine Republic, Japan and the United States.
Numerous are the awards received by Ramón Castellano that reward his long and prolific artistic career.
His already important pictorial work has allowed him to hold 31 exhibitions, 18 individual and 13 collective. The most recent exhibition was held in May 2007 in Barcelona (Spain), at the "Global Present Art" Gallery, located at Calle Sant Eusebi nº 57.
Ramón Castellano has formed part, on three occasions, of the Qualifying Jury of the Ciudad de Morón Biennial of Painting, of an international nature.
He has also illustrated stories such as "El bosque de las squirrels", by María Isabel Campos; "Tato", by María Paz Sanz Alvarez. etc.
Regular collaborator, with drawings and articles, in cultural, educational and art magazines.
Apart from his merely pictorial work, Ramón Castellano, as a historian, has written and published, with the sponsorship of the Fernando Villalón Foundation, the following books: "Historical-Artistic Monuments of Morón"; "Apuntes geográficos de Morón"; "Walking through Morón"; "Illustrated History of Morón de la Frontera"; and the 2nd expanded edition of "Monumentos de Morón" (2001).
