Nataliya Fenko
It is a gift to be able to see the beauty that surrounds us, even in the simplest, most ordinary things, as they quietly remind us of the wonder woven into everyday life.
I was born in Ukraine but have called Germany home for the past 23 years. Photography has long been my way of capturing the beauty in the world, freezing fleeting moments that often go unnoticed. Five years ago, I discovered the joy of painting, which brought a new dimension to how I express my love for the everyday wonders that surround us. Whether through the lens or on canvas, I seek to reveal the quiet magic hidden in the simplest of things, hoping to share this sense of wonder with others.
My paintings are more than just a depiction of the objects. It’s a homage to nature’s simple unadorned beauty — a reflection of quiet, unnoticed moments that make up the tapestry of everyday life. It’s my invitation for you to pause, to see, and to appreciate the everyday miracles in the world around us.

Artichokes
This piece captures the quiet beauty of two artichokes resting against a muted background. The interplay of soft greens, blues, and earthy tones reflects their organic texture while evoking a sense of calm and balance. The brushstrokes are loose yet intentional, emphasizing the natural, imperfect charm of these vegetables. The contrast between the dark background and the lighter artichokes creates depth and invites the viewer to pause and appreciate the simple elegance of nature.

Soft Dreams of Summer
This painting captures the gentle serenity of a summer day. A lone figure, dressed in flowing blue and cradling a bouquet of delicate white flowers, stands amidst a meadow. The strokes are soft and impressionistic, with splashes of blue and white that echo the breezy sky above. Her straw hat hides her face, leaving her identity to the viewer’s imagination, evoking a sense of mystery and timeless beauty. The wildflowers sway gently, blending with the textured clouds, creating a harmonious dance of nature and emotion. This piece is an ode to stillness, freedom, and the fleeting beauty of life’s quiet moments.

Avocado
In my studio I found inspiration in a lone avocado. I painted its vibrant green and yellow flesh, contrasting with the rough, dark background. The background deepened, highlighting the avocado‘s essence. Texture and light brought it to life, the pit nestled within symbolizing nature’s cyclical beauty.

Bound Green
Bound Green captures a bundle of asparagus, tied with a simple string, yet exuding a quiet elegance. The earthy tones and shadows play against the vibrant greens, bringing warmth to the composition and highlighting the natural texture of each stalk. By isolating this humble vegetable against a dark background, I wanted to underscore its organic beauty and the craftsmanship within nature's design. This piece is a reflection on the grounded beauty of life's essentials, inviting the viewer to appreciate how simplicity can still evoke richness and depth.

Hunter in Green Shadows
This piece captures the essence of a determined feline explorer making its way through a lush, untamed garden. The strong, piercing yellow eyes are the focal point, pulling you into the cat’s world of curiosity and stealth. Using textured brushstrokes and a vivid palette of greens, yellows, and soft grays, I wanted to evoke the contrast between the cat’s elegance and the vibrant chaos of nature. The forward stride symbolizes confidence and the endless curiosity of cats as they conquer their surroundings with grace.

First Blossoms
This piece is a celebration of renewal and delicate beauty. The snowdrops, gently resting in a simple glass, embody the quiet resilience of nature as it transitions from winter to spring. The muted blue background contrasts with the purity of the white petals, creating an atmosphere of calm and reflection. I aimed to capture the ephemeral nature of these flowers, their fragility, and the hope they symbolize, reminding us of the gentle yet powerful renewal of life.

Cheese and Grapes
“This painting depicts a rustic still life arrangement of fine cheeses accompanied by a cluster of fresh green grapes. The texture and detail in the cheeses highlight their distinct character: the creamy blue veins, the rich golden hues, and the subtle cracks of aged rind. The grapes add a burst of freshness, their soft green tones contrasting beautifully with the earthy backdrop. I aimed to create a warm, intimate scene that invites the viewer to imagine the taste and atmosphere of a cozy gathering. The abstract background gives the composition a timeless, artistic quality while keeping the focus on the food itself.”

New
“This work is dedicated to the beauty of irises, their delicate forms, and rich palette. I used bold, expressive brushstrokes to convey the sense of movement and life within these flowers. The contrast between the vibrant greenery and the soft hues of the petals highlights both their strength and fragility. It’s an attempt to capture a moment of full bloom, where nature speaks in the language of color and form.”

Rainy Day
Raindrops scatter across the windshield, softening the view of a serene urban street. The symmetrical lines of tram tracks guide the eye into the distance, where the golden dome of a historic building rises gracefully against the gray sky. The rows of parked cars and quaint facades of old buildings create a harmonious cityscape, steeped in nostalgia and charm. The wet pavement mirrors the warm glow of brake lights and streetlamps, infusing a sense of quiet vibrancy into this rainy-day tableau. I aimed to capture the understated beauty of city life, where history and modernity blend seamlessly through the veil of rain.

Harmony in Chaos
This painting, an expressive abstraction of a sailing fleet caught in motion, captures the untamed energy of the sea and sky. Layers of blues, greens, and whites blur together in a dance of movement—windswept sails billow under the relentless power of unseen winds, while the restless ocean froths below, marked with flecks of spray and foam. The bold, textured brushstrokes reflect both the chaos and harmony of nature, evoking the sensations of freedom and risk that accompany life at sea.
For me, this artwork symbolizes both a challenge and an escape. Each sailboat represents a pursuit—whether of a dream, freedom, or the horizon itself—that demands resilience. The imperfect edges and dynamic forms echo how life is never neat or still, yet it is in that imperfection where beauty and meaning lie.
The muted ochre sky contrasts the turbulent blue depths, hinting at a looming calm or storm. It invites viewers to imagine: Are they sailing toward safety, or deeper into the tempest? This uncertainty mirrors the choices we all navigate in life, and it is up to the viewer to decide where these winds will take them.

Frozen Stillness
"This painting captures the tranquil charm of a winter morning in a remote village.
The thick snow blankets the rooftops and ground, muting the world with its pristine stillness. I used textured strokes to emphasize the rugged beauty of the snow-covered scene, blending soft blues and whites to evoke the crisp, chilly air.
The wooden houses, with their rustic charm, feel weathered yet enduring, offering warmth amid the cold. The tilted utility pole and sparse bushes add a touch of realism, reminding viewers of human presence in this serene landscape.
I wanted to convey the peacefulness and quiet isolation that winter often brings to such places, where time seems to slow, and nature takes over."

New
This painting captures the gentle elegance of three blooming flowers in a simple glass vase, set against a textured, abstract background of cool blues and subtle golden accents. Using bold, expressive strokes, I wanted to convey the fleeting beauty and vibrancy of spring blossoms, their colors rich with life yet softened by time. The interplay of light and shadow on the vase creates a sense of realism, while the surrounding brushstrokes evoke a dreamy, impressionistic mood. This piece is an ode to nature's quiet moments of grace and renewal.

WINTER IN THE VILLAGE
Bildbeschreibung
This painting captures a quiet winter evening where the golden glow of the setting sun bathes the snowy landscape in warmth and light. The small, cozy house at the heart of the scene emanates a welcoming glow, its chimney softly puffing smoke into the frosty air. The snow-covered roof and frost-laden trees glisten under the soft moonlight, while a rustic wooden fence gently guides the viewer's eyes deeper into the peaceful scene.
I wanted to convey the harmonious contrast between the coldness of the snow and the warmth of the home. The serene palette of whites and blues, complemented by the vibrant amber sky, evokes a sense of nostalgia and comfort, a reminder of the beauty that can be found in even the coldest moments of life.

Rain in the City
Bildbeschreibung
In this piece, I sought to capture the romance of a quiet evening in the city, just after the rain has kissed the streets. The shimmering lights of cars and street lamps reflect like fleeting memories on the wet pavement, blending into the soft glow of the fading day. The deep blues and golden hues create a dreamlike atmosphere, where the hustle of the city fades into a gentle hum. This is a moment of solitude and wonder, where the city feels alive, yet tender, as if it's sharing its quiet secrets with those who linger in its embrace.

Violinist
In this painting, I sought to capture a moment of intimate connection between musician and instrument. The violinist is lost in the melody, eyes gently closed, embodying a sense of serene dedication. l used a warm color palette and soft brushstrokes to convey a feeling of nostalgia and warmth, allowing viewers to feel the music's depth through his expression.
The dark, neutral background contrasts with the illuminated figure, drawing focus to his concentrated expression and graceful posture. Subtle highlights on his face and hands create a chiaroscuro effect, reminiscent of classic portraiture, emphasizing the quiet intensity of his craft. This piece reflects not only the act of playing but also the emotional resonance music brings, transforming a simple performance into an intimate moment of self-expression.
