Alberto Meggiorin Mejo, born August 29, 1982 in Padua (Italy), is an art lover in all its entirety. A curious observer of everyday life, of living things and emotions he feels.
Already musician (former drummer of Amniotica, Linden Park and currently Wornout's drummer and singer) he discovered painting as an autodidact, studying anatomy books like Hogarth's, Gray's, Kimber's, Pozza's, all gifted by his sister, also she a painter and art teacher.
After loss of mother in youth, he grew up with two sisters and the father (who also died few years later), went to the high school of Piove di Sacco (PD) and once graduated he tried various jobs to then working as a graphic designer.
"Live everything is the key. You have to experience and experiment yourself. This is the way to increase knowledge, even to understand the harshness of life, the life of every day" he says.
His never-ending love for art makes him living and breathing in all its divergence, in order to understand its appeal, the pattern of life that makes him happy to play music and paint. His sister transmitted to him love for Art, they often attend together at exhibitions all around Italy ( Rome,Venice, Bologna, ecc..).
In Mejo's point of view, Art is inside all sensitive people, in a positive or negative mood, Art is exhibit to the other the lived emotion, the swallowed pain, a denunciation os something, in his case the society. All of these through means that could be painting, sculpture, poetry ecc...each one knows where to flow better this epassion and concept's escaping.
His painting is essential, minimal, impulsive, almost raw, deforming, determined and instinctive, with a deliberately infant approach to the figure. There are not "best ways" for him to express what he sees and what he complains like his works!
A kind of freedom's howl of his inner pain.
The street is his school, the experience, the growing up, the “living everything as much as you can”
His artistic influences comes from all thos artists knowed as conceptual abstractionists like Jean Micheal Basquiat, J.Pollock, A. Warhol, K. Haring, J.Dubuffet ecc..
Collage-style painting on canvas and pressed paper.
“ I try to express what I live and feel every single day, on the road... collecting the emotions that penetrate me, and then spread it on the canvas or other material.. in a minimal way, almost raw, with impulsive and instinctive movement.”
Like Jackson Pollock is the same for me: "My painting does not come from the easel. I prefer to tack the unstretched canvas to the hard wall or the floor. I need the resistance of a hard surface. On the floor I am more at ease. I feel nearer, more part of the painting, since this way I can walk around it, work from the four sides and literally be in the painting."
The instrument that i principally use is the spatula, but I even use spongies, plasterers, charcoals, small sticks
