Maauriac is a contemporary acrylic painter, born in 1992 in Strasbourg, France.
Mathilde Auriac (Maauriac) found her passion through drawing and painting during her childhood. Her taste for the arts led her to train to become an architect. Immersed in art books since always, she draws her influence from that of masters like Picasso, Matisse, Zao Wou-Ki, and even Françoise Gilot who will mark her work.
From her adolescence, Mathilde felt inspired by the beauty of the Mediterranean landscapes of the south of France which she found every summer, they inspired her with emotions which she translated into abstract blue shapes in her paintings.
Fascinated by color and light, and especially their impact on the environment around her, Maauriac quickly turned to this pictorial research to create her works. Over time, she made the theme of water her favorite genre. His body-landscapes reveal a real but dreamlike universe, reflecting the colors and atmosphere of the world around him.
She draws her inspiration from the play of light on the water, the abstract shapes created by the sea and its reflections. His paintings are imbued with a gentle melancholy, always mixed with shades of blue which evolve over time, modifying the abstract parts of the composition.
Through these body fragments, these posture details, the artist seeks to reaffirm her femininity and reclaim her own body. The silent and calm bodies are inhabited by a quiet strength, they also depict a certain relationship to the world.
After exploring different artistic techniques (linocut, watercolor, ink drawing), she finally focused on painting and acrylic ink. This medium allows him to capture the essence of his subject with vibrant blue colors and transparent work.
Mathilde moved to Paris, after her stay in Canada, and continued to perfect her style which combines realism and abstraction in her new studio facing the town hall. In 2022, she participates in individual and group exhibitions. His works are notably exhibited at the Estampes Place Saint Sulpice days in Paris, as well as at the creation laboratory. His paintings, often characterized by bold compositions, striking plays of light and expressive contrasts, met with success during the “Couleurs” exhibition at the Libre est l'art gallery in the 3rd arrondissement of Paris.
When she is not painting, Mathilde is also an architect in an agency where she designs residential buildings. In the free time she has left, she also creates children's illustrations for books and games.
