Mythological creatures, such as the harpy, are often symbols with layered, historical and subtle meanings. The harpy, a bird of prey with a woman's head, is often associated with mortality and the fear thereof. By extension one can connect this fear with the fear of the unknown, with the sensation of the unknown being near. Just like the harpy at the edge of a woodland, dominated by ominous looking trees and a sense of foreboding. The harpy here symbolises the experience of being on the threshold of the unknown, and the terror we experience when our own small world begins to fall apart.

Julia started drawing at a young age. She was an artist at the preschool before she could read. By the time he was a teenager, her grandmother brought her into her studio where they draw together with her grandmother friends and inspired Julia's love of rural landscapes, sense of romance, and artistic traditions.

With family friend Boris Otarov guidance, she mastered figure study and gouache, and later learned egg tempera from Eugenia Kameneva. Julia studied art history from her grandfather Mark Gubergrits, admiring many masters of  Middle Ages,Renaissance and French, Spanish and Italian painting.

Julia was born in Tallinn, Estonia in the multicultural family. In Tallinn I have finished Art School on Kevade Tn. and also in Estonia I have done my undergraduate studies in Art Academy {ERKI)     I've got my degree in Theatre Arts in Moscow, Russia. My internship in costume design was done in Paris, France. I've worked as costume designer in Tallinn,Moscow, Chicago,IL and Ottawa,ON

At the same time I kept painting, drawing and during my early studies I've started to participate in public exhibitions. I had my personal exhibitions in France, USA and Canada
