John Moore
John H Moore is married with four children and works from his studio at home in Devon. He has degrees in art and science subjects and a PhD in computer vision.
John has wide commercial experience, including running a research company to exploit his own patents (winning the prestigious Smart Award several times) and upgrading an unlisted caravan park to five-stars. He has been a full-time artist since 2004.
QUALIFICATIONS
1975 - 1979 : Bsc Building Construction, University of Central London (letter of merit).
1981 - 1984 : BA Art & Design, Bradford Art College (twice commended).
1986 - 1990 : PhD Digitising Human Faces, CNAA
COMMERCIAL EXPERIENCE
1984 - 1985 : PT Lecturer Computer Aided Design, Bradford & Ilkley Community College.
1985 : Setup as self-employed CAD consultant under EAS.
1986 : Developed speech-synchronised computer face animation for Microtech Solutions Ltd, demonstrated at PC User Show, Olympia 1987.
1986 - 1997 : Founded 3-D Research to exploit own patents in 3-D digitising, developed several prototypes with DTI funding, consultant on projects with Rolls-Royce, European Gas Turbines and Liverpool John Moores University.
1997 - 2003 : Upgraded a caravan holiday park near Ilfracombe from unlisted to five-stars within four years. Tripled the turnover in six years.
2004 - Present : Full-time artist working from home in Devon.

John leans towards idealism but finds it hard to imagine that mathematics is only inside our minds. So he is probably a naive realist.
IMPOSSELLATIONS
John is fascinated by how simple rules can generate very complex patterns. The most interesting patterns are in some way figurative - they contain information that we see as 'things' (or parts of things). This illusion is why art "works", and why we don't see the world as it really is, as an interlocking tessellation of impossible objects.....
