Jenny Hee is a self-taught sculptor who was born in Miri, Sarawak Borneo but now based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and Singapore.
Previously an entrepreneur dealing with natural stones and veneer stones which she created for the interior design of residences and offices. Over the years, she has gained considerable experience working with these materials. In addition, she always has a great and unremitting passion for creating arts through dexterous manipulation of materials and structural forms.
Her goal is to create a colour of hope for humanity through arts, often at the periphery of seemingly boundless infinity. This hope is often expressed as an explosion of a spectrum of colours, each with its own strong vibrational energy. She would probably like the viewers to experience this powerful feeling of continuous hope in their life’s journey. There is always hope at the turn of the road, at the next destination, at the darkest moment, at the lowest point, and at the end of a rainbow.
Jenny achieves her artistic goal through a fusion of colours, forms and textures. Her preference is for stronger colours which can stir and resonate with the viewers’ emotions. Each colour has its own frequency and energy which evoke a feeling in a viewer. As for forms, she loves working with intricate high and low reliefs, which significantly reinforce the three-dimensional visual and emotional effects. A viewer also experiences a temporal or flowing time effect as he moves his sight through and around the hills, valleys and mazes of her creation. Indeed, each hill, valley and maze have a unique sensibility as it is created with a harmonious balance of textures. This textural effect is brought upon by using materials such as natural stones, wood, concrete and metals.
Jenny’s artistic journey is beginning and will continue to the edge of a colourful and hopeful infinity!
