«Hua Sha Yin Ni», le titre chinois de cette exposition, signifie: «comme un poinçon sur le sable/comme un tampon dans l’argile."
Cette métaphore a pour origine l'ouvrage intitulé «Synthèse de la Caligraphie» de Zhe Sui Liang (dynastie Tang), et décrit une technique d’utilisation du pinceau.
Ici, le pinceau a laissé place à l’aiguille, ou au marteau, mais comme dans l'art de la caligraphie, le geste sans cesse répété amène au résultat final, élégant dans sa simplicité.
L’artiste française Joëlle Jakubiak se penche sur les formes tracées par la nature: arrêtes des rochers, cernes du bois, alvéoles des ruches; un simple champignon, si on l’observe attentivement, révèle parfois une structure complexe et raffinée.
L’approche minimale de Joëlle Jakubiak privilégie les matériaux bruts, les outils rudimentaires, les gestes simples, la répétition. A force de tentatives, les motifs apparaissent comme par accident; spontanément.
Selon Platon et Aristote, l’art est l’imitation de la nature, et ici, l’artiste semble se conformer méthodiquement à cette règle, mais paradoxalement, l’ impression qui se dégage du travail de Joëlle Jakubiak, est celle d’une nature qui semble imiter l’art.
