This series of coastal works leans towards a minimalist feel, focusing on colour, movement, and the heart of my work, the music sheets, which make up my horizon, inspired by what I feel we all love most about the beach, 'the beautiful sound of the waves'.
The results are soft palette strokes of colour over texture with textile, creating a sense of blurred motion reminiscent of the rolling waves or sand patterns on the beach. Many of my compositions still include numbers, inspired by the beach boxes, boats, and marinas along the coastline, to those with a clean horizon of simplicity and calm.

My love for distressed and weathered surfaces, colour, typography, and a coastal lifestyle, inspired a style all my own onto canvas using self taught techniques in acrylic and mixed media.
These compositions bring the viewer a vibrant rich colour palette, texture, mixed media, numbers, and large type. Elements inspired by early retro posters which always caught my eye when walking on the boardwalk along the beachside towns in Maryland and Virginia, USA.

Biography
Sabina D’Antonio is a self-taught contemporary abstract painter, originally from the United States and now residing in Australia. When she's not in her studio creating, she can often be found driving around, allowing herself to be inspired by anything and everything along the way. D’Antonio draws a lot of inspiration for her artwork from her photography, whether it's from the images she captures or simply from the act of searching for beauty.
A frequent sight is D’Antonio walking along the beach, exploring the textures, numbers, and colors found in beach boxes and marinas. She has a particular fondness for the texture and appearance of weathered wood, finding inspiration in the patterns of peeling paint and the vibrant hues that emerge from rust. The numbers on beach boxes and boats remind her of her manufacturing background, while the stunning teal blue waters of the bay tie everything together to create an inspiring palette for her artistic endeavors. These elements she discovers in her surroundings serve as a constant wellspring of creativity, motivating her to bring her vision to life in the studio.

In the Studio...
My studio is located in Mornington, off the beautiful Mornington Peninsula coastline of Victoria, Australia, which inspires the elements in texture, numbers, and colour found throughout my work.

In the Studio...
In 2015, I took a chance at an untutored life drawing session, and found it to be a great avenue to keep my drawing skills active, as well as enjoying a fabulous resource of soft hues to recreate into my coastal works. It has now become another avenue in sharing my love for colour, visual texture, and numbers with fellow art lovers.

KEY ELEMENTS / NUMBERS
The numbers you see in my work are inspired by the weathered and colourful beach boxes that outline our coastline, which I first fell in love with when visiting the Peninsula, as well as the boats, and marinas, to what comes naturally to me during the creative process. You will find these numbers, with letters, on the front and both sides of the canvas.

KEY ELEMENTS / MUSIC SHEETS
The music sheets found along the horizon are not any one song. I go through several sheets to find bars that match in thickness, to give the horizon an even flow across the canvas.
Inspired by my childhood with my Parisian Mother, who encouraged my love for art and music, to what I feel we all love most about the beach, 'the beautiful sound of the waves'.
Life is my inspiration.

My love for the beach and coastal lifestyle inspires a style all my own onto canvas, using self taught techniques in acrylic and mixed media, creating beautiful contemporary abstract to minimalist landscape and seascape paintings.
