Early Autumn exhibition 2023

Interview About Digital Art - 2023
Q. Ida, what made you get into virtual computer art from just painting with the real brush?
A. To me digital art has been a slow process to acquire. It started when I was trying to illustrate cards on computer. In studying to advertise art, I was fascinated by the tricks of manipulating photos. Moreover, I was puzzled on how traditional art such as etching-drawing could be freely mingled with a computirezed (software) technique. As to create a new experimental vision effective and "dynamique" visually.
Q. Isn't that perhaps new device ways to make traditional art out of date?
A. Perhaps we become a little over anxious to the thought that activities persued by the artisans alike, so to speak, by whom manual touch is required, as well as by our old masters, could become obsolete in the future, but that is not the case at all. Basically there'll be always need to observe and record manually the natural world.
Q. Is the future then in the hands of AI, do you reckon?
A. At the present time I am not going any near to AI myself. My knowlwdge is confined to photoshop software. To me a computer is my personal assistant in a useful way. It gives me suggestions on solutions for image making. In a few words, in aid to what before was done manually with photocopiers and collages in the preparation to the ultimate depiction of the canvas. But then again there so many surprises in store for us!

Personal statement
I paint what is real for me and what I feel…” An object, a landscape, a window open to infinity... a world that I perceive with my senses and imagination. For instance, a flower could become the object of desire, the focal point of interest and by the gesture of painting it I project my own visual space in the image I make. When ancient myths and legends fascinate me... the composition in the painting become more symbolic and figurative.
My favourite artists from last century:
Artemisia Gentileschi as one of the greatest female renaissance artist
Vincent Van Gogh for his lyricism (a mark of his own)
Henri Matisse as one of the greatest colourist (fauvist)
Frida Kahlo for her imagination (surrealist)
Georgia O'Keeffe for her modern vision of form (abstractist)
Helen Chadwick for her visual sense of science (body matters)
Rebecca Horn for her vision of a world of metaphor, legend, and alchemy(kinetic sculptures and installations)
Presentation
Ida's paintings could be said to be a progressive work toward a figurative symbolism of its kind. Legends and traces of memories are the source of her inspiration. Her ideas contained in a bi-dimensional space of her own idealized vision, resulting in an intimate atmosphere, aloof from dream and legend.
