The 50th Anniversary release of the iconic album will continue to be celebrated as Pink Floyd invite a new generation of animators to enter a competition, curated by Aubrey ‘Po’ Powell of Hipgnosis, to create music videos for any of the 10 songs on the iconic 1973 album. Pink Floyd have a rich history of collaborating with animators from the beginnings of the band (Ian Emes, Gerald Scarfe, etc.), and in some cases the visuals that accompany the songs have become synonymous with the music itself. The band would like to give all animators an opportunity to present a fresh take on these timeless aural works. Animators can enter up to 10 videos, one per song on the album. A winner will be selected from a panel of experts which will include Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason, renowned directors Terry Gilliam, Anton Corbijn, Sarah Smith, Kyle Alba, Daisy Jacobs, illustrator and Floyd collaborator Gerald Scarfe and UK Chairman of design company Pentagram, Harry Pearce. The deadline for submissions is November 30th 2023.

"The Great Gig in the Sky" is the fifth track on The Dark Side of the Moon, a 1973 album by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd. The song features music by keyboard player Richard Wright and wordless vocals by session singer Clare Torry. It is one of only three Pink Floyd songs to feature vocals from an outside artist.

Artistic tribute to Virgil Finlay

Virgil Finlay (July 23, 1914 – January 18, 1971) was an American pulp fantasy, science fiction and horror illustrator. Finlay became famous using ink pens, with abundant stippling, cross-hatching and scratch-board techniques. When he worked for Weird Tales, Finlay illustrated the works of famous writers, including Howard Phillips Lovecraft. 

For this tribute I have chosen, as a model, four works to be graphically reworked in a modern key, while maintaining the artistic characteristics chosen by the author: 

1) Reconnaissance Ship, 1956 

2) The Frozen Summer – David Redd, 1969 

3) The Angry Street – G. K. Chesterton, 1947 

4) An Apple for the Teacher – Robert F. Young, 1955

Artistic tribute to Maurits Cornelis

Escher Maurits Cornelis Escher (Leeuwarden, 17 June 1898 - Laren, 27 March 1972) was a Dutch engraver and graphic designer. In his works, Escher illustrates a world governed by geometric and mathematical harmonies. In fact, he admitted: "I often feel closer to mathematicians than to my fellow artists." 

For this tribute I have chosen, as a model, four works to be graphically reworked in a modern key, while maintaining the artistic characteristics chosen by the author: 

1) Cubic space division - produced by Escher in 1925 

2) Another world - produced by Escher in 1947 

3) Hand with reflecting globe - produced by Escher in 1935 

4) Three spheres - produced by Escher in 1946
