Madeleine Gendron est née à Montréal. Dès son entrée au primaire, elle se fait remarquer au niveau de son école par son dessin d’un château : la maison de vos rêves, ensuite, par le dessin d’un chat botté. On lui confie alors, un travail de murale à l’occasion de Noël qui a l’heur d’en impressionner plusieurs.
Très töt, son milieu de vie est propice aux arts: famille où la culture prédomine, rencontres avec des parents et amis,artistes de profession ou du dimanche :
Alain Poirier, décédé trop tôt, le grand maître Gélinas, Miville Couture, Cécile Paquette et Jean-Paul Lussier ont l’occasion de voir ses œuvres et tôt fait de l’encourager. C’est le début d’une vocation.
Se diant surtout autodidacte, l’artiste a reçu une formation de base en arts plastiques au collège Marguerite Bourgeit’s son alma mater, qui lui a donné encore davantage le goût des arts.
Paralellement, attirée par la psychologie, elle poursuit aussi ce rêve et obtient un doctorat en psychologie clinique et travaille toujours comme psychologue utilisant en outre, l’art thérapie psychanalytique.
Madeleine Gendron s’identifie surtout comme artiste, à ses peintures à l’huile dans la tradition des impressionnistes. Renoir, Gauguin, Degas, Monet et Manet, pour n’en citer que quelques-uns. A partir de 1990, elle participe à des expositions locales et internationales . expositions en Italie, gallérie du Vatican, à Cangas en Espagne, aux Pays-Bas, diplôme d’honneur du Salon, et eà Marennes en France, au Portugal. Elle reçoit des commandes.Elle obtient une mention d’honneur en 1990 du Cercle des artistes peintres et sculpteurs du Québec , puis en 2004, un Silver Howard de Artmajeur et en 2012, la médaille d’argent au concours nationale du cercle des artistes peintres et sculpteurs du Québec.
