Emanuela Lucaci, originally from Romania, is a Swiss-based figurative-abstract painter renowned for her innovative exploration of movement and blur. Lucaci's artistic universe delves deeply into the human condition and its untapped potential. Her work focuses on individuals' distorted perceptions of reality, driven by a lifelong quest to uncover the extraordinary possibilities of human existence.
This profound exploration has led Lucaci to diverse fields of inquiry, including physics at CERN, psychoanalysis, and spiritual practices. These experiences influence her multidisciplinary approach, which spans painting, photography, poetry, video, and installation art.
Lucaci’s artistic journey began at the age of six under the mentorship of a master painter. She later attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Oradea, Romania, specializing in painting. Her career has taken her across Romania, Switzerland, France, the United States, Finland, and Mexico, where her works have been widely exhibited.
Her notable series Freedom debuted in 1999 at the Human Rights House in Geneva, inaugurated by Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. In 2001, the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York showcased her Sky Genesis series.
Lucaci’s career highlights include being awarded for her Big Bang Installation proposal in 2004, leading to a large-scale artwork (15 x 15 meters) for CERN’s ALICE experiment, where she served as an artist-in-residence from 2003 to 2008. In 2006, UNICEF New York commissioned her to create a painting on the theme of maternity.
Beyond visual art, Lucaci contributed as an actress in the short film Unveiled (2012), depicting artistic struggles. In 2018, she co-hosted a conference on creativity at UNICEF’s SkillShare Forum in Amsterdam. Since 2008, Lucaci has also shared her expertise as an art teacher.
Emanuela Lucaci’s work continues to captivate audiences, blending scientific inquiry, psychological depth, and artistic innovation to explore the intricacies of human potential and perception.
