Dietmar Scherf is a renowned landscape and ballet photographer from Germany. His work has appeared in numerous illustrated books, in well-known magazines such as Newsweek, Geo Saison, Paris Match and on telephone cards. He documented several major sporting events for agencies, including the World Cup and World Championships.
Dietmar Scherf initially studied economics, art and photography in Mainz, Trier and Bremen and initially worked as a travel journalist and landscape photographer. Now ballet is at the center of his work. As a child, ballerinas were his favorite drawing motif. With photography he wants to show the magic, passion and beauty of this dance - and the dancers with their fantastic costumes, artistic movements and the state of floating during jumps and pointe dancing. Famous ensembles advertise their performances with his photographs, including the Moscow State Russian Ballet.
