Co Stam is a contemporary Dutch sculptor. He chose bronze as a means of expression. The handicraft aspects and the special properties of bronze are especially attractive for him. The sculptures are casted via the so-called "cire perdue techniques" whereby during the casting the plaster-mold is lost.
In his sculptures the artist is exploring liveness and transparency. Stilling at the right moment of the motion gives in the imagination spirit and life to the sculpture. The expressive power is strengthened by leaving out some details and by deformations.
Co Stam was born in 1942, in the Netherlands.
