Cécile Mordillo, born in 1972, lives and works in France. After graduating as a graphic designer from the Met school in Penninghen in Paris in 1995, she mainly worked in the field of children's publishing. However, her artistic journey has taken a new direction in recent years, as she devotes herself to the work of her father, Guillermo Mordillo, in collaboration with the Amsterdam-based publisher and agent Rubinstein.
Today, Cécile finds particular fulfillment in the art of portraiture. Inspired by masters such as Norman Rockwell, Gustav Klimt, Giovanni Boldini and Johannes Vermeer, she explores the subtle nuances of human expression through her pencil drawings on paper. For her creations, she prefers to work with high quality colored pencils, chosen for their resistance to light, on A5 format paper, blue "denim"
For Cécile, drawing a portrait is an intimate and revealing exercise. Each line, each shadow and each light contributes to revealing the personality and emotion of the subject. It is an intense and captivating process, where she strives to capture not only the physical features, but also the very essence of the person depicted.
