Biography
Tatiana Potapenko, alias Artmoods TP, is a contemporary figurative artist from Finland. In her artistic journey, she has explored various genres, but her heart has always gravitated towards portraiture. Tatiana finds perpetual fascination in the intricacies of human nature, steadfast in her belief that she can perceive, share, and unveil the beauty inherent in all earthly emotions - be it joy or sorrow, passion or loathing, excitement or desperation, serenity or rage.
Her subjects are intentionally imperfect and imbalanced, yet consistently sincere and true to life. Real stories from friends, strangers in the news, characters from literature, and historical figures deeply move her, serving as wellsprings of inspiration. Tatiana meticulously interprets these narratives through the lens of her own experiences and understanding, breathing life into them on canvas. In this transformative process, her paintings metamorphose into her own alter egos.
Central to her artistic philosophy are themes of profound human significance - relationships, life's purpose, beliefs, religion, parenthood, and death - which serve as the driving forces behind her compelling figurative compositions. Her preferred mediums, acrylics and oils, are skillfully wielded to create emotionally charged works on canvas or wood. She has a penchant for larger sizes, monochrome palettes, and rougher surfaces, believing that these elements contribute to the atmospheric qualities she seeks to convey. Whether pre-texturing canvases or using unsmooth wooden panels as a base, her technical choices are deliberate and integral to her artistic expression.
For Tatiana Potapenko, evolution is a constant in an artist's journey - skills may be refined, techniques explored, and styles may shift, but the core essence remains unchanged.
