Original Artwork refers to any work that is considered authentic and not a copy or imitation of the original works of an artist. Original artwork can be any type of painting, sculpture, performance, or other media. There are many types of original media. Mixed media includes oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings. For workshop paintings that bear evidence of master craftsmanship, this attribution must be further qualified. While they may be less valuable for different reasons, reproductions and copies have had a tremendous impact on our experience. They reach a greater audience than originals and act as a tonic against commodification. Original Artwork could also refer to the first work, which is always preceding all others. Mexico

Yolanda A. Vela, pintora mexicana, nació en Durango. Su formación artística iniciada en 1981 en Guadalajara Jalisco se amplió con los talleres libres de dibujo, talla en madera, grabado, acuarela, óleo, pastel y acrílico cursados entre 1983 y 2001 en Cuernavaca Morelos, con maestros tales como José Luis Cuevas, Conrado Domínguez, Enrique Cattaneo, Huascar Taborga, entre otros. Ha realizado más de quince exposiciones individuales y sesenta exposiciones colectivas en diversos estados de la República Mexicana tales como Sinaloa, Chihuahua, Zacatecas, Chiapas, Oaxaca, Baja California, Quinta Roo, Yucatán y el Estado de México. Adicionalmente en el 2003 fue becaria del Programa de Estímulos a la Creación, Difusión, Investigación y Formación Artística del Fondo Estatal para la Cultura y las Artes en la categoría de creadores e intérpretes; asimismo en el 2001 ganó el primer lugar en el IV Salón Estatal de la Acuarela en Morelos por su obra “Ímpetu erótico” y ha recibido menciones en diversos concursos organizados por el Museo Nacional de la Acuarela. De acuerdo con Enrique Cattaneo, la propuesta plástica de Yolanda A. Vela se caracteriza por que refleja sin pudor “el misterio de los cuerpos, todo aquello que tememos y a la vez deseamos encontrar”; el erotismo y la pasión se establecen entonces como su principal fuente de inspiración.
