William Oxer F.R.S.A., contemporary British painter, transcending the boundaries of traditional artistic expression to embody a distinctive sensibility. More than a painter, he is a poetic visionary, exploring his profound artistic vision through various media. Oxer's art is not merely a representation; it is an affirmative, evocative, and forgiving journey that beckons viewers back to the true and serious traditions of artistic expression.

Passion defines William Oxer's artistic journey, driven by traditional notions of beauty that he ardently believes should be represented. His intellectual foundation was shaped under the tutelage of Professor Regius Peter Davidson at Oxford University, instilling in him a deep appreciation for the timeless ideals of artistic expression.

Following his graduation, William was offered a coveted place at the Prince of Wales' Institute of Architecture. However, guided by wise counsel, he opted to become an assistant to Alec Cobbe, an artist, restorer, and collector. This decision marked a pivotal moment in Oxer's artistic development, allowing him to delve into a rich tapestry of experiences that would shape his trajectory.

Over the span of 33 years, William Oxer has crafted a remarkable body of work, undertaking regular portrait commissions for private clients and contributing artworks to exhibitions and collections worldwide. His artistic portfolio extends beyond canvases, encompassing period decoration and exhibition design. Notable projects include collaborations with esteemed institutions such as Christie’s and the Building of Bath Museum, known as The Museum of Bath Architecture.

In recognition of his outstanding achievements in the arts, William Oxer was honored by the Royal Society of Arts in 2017, being granted the prestigious title of Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). This acknowledgment underscores his profound impact on the realms of Arts, Manufactures, and Commerce.

Recent exhibitions at 54 The Gallery in Shepherd Market, Mayfair, London, have showcased the breadth and depth of William Oxer's artistic vision. With a history rooted in interior design, he has left an indelible mark on historic houses like Goodwood House, Buckingham Palace, Petworth House, and Hatchlands Park. Collaborating with Alec Cobbe, Oxer has adorned these spaces with large-scale painted designs, embodying the seamless integration of art and history.
