Born in 1957, Volodymyr Moldavskyi, is a professional Mechanical Design Engineer and a self-taught surrealism artist from Odesa, Ukraine. His main inspiration has always been progressive rock music and his main influences were Sir John Tenniel, Paul Whitehead, Betty Swanwick and Roger Dean.

While taking his first steps in digital mechanical design, Volodymyr was also drawn to digital painting techniques. In 2004, Volodymyr mastered Photoshop, TwistedBrush and Painter and started creating surreal digital artwork.

It was in the period between 2008 and 2016 when Volodymyr got invited to work on album covers and promo visuals for US progressive rock music bands Slychosis, Proximal Distance and Majestic.

In 2021, Volodymyr created his first paintings using mixed media: ink, pens, liners, pencils and watercolours. In his artwork, Volodymyr often juxtaposes human nature fusing elements of the physical realm with the mechanical to create surreal images that show the delicate connection between the two.

In February 2022, after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Volodymyr and his family fled the country and have been temporarily based abroad ever since. His artwork of this period exposes Volodymyr's distinctive personal reflections on the power of home and the brutality of war.
