Virginie Mérimée, a versatile artist also known as Vim, is an eminent member of the Société des Poètes Français. Her artistic journey began in 2011, when she discovered the magic of acrylic painting. Without formal training, she became self-taught, first exploring the figurative world of art.
To refine her art, Virginie Mérimée drew on various sources, including artistic magazines, online videos and by participating in the workshop of the talented painter Marcel Mulot within the Association of Artists of Auvergne from 2016 to 2019. This period was enriching and educational, marked by an internship in colorimetry under the tutelage of the painter Andrée Bars in 2018.
However, Virginie felt the need to further explore her technique to express the abstract universe that populated her mind. She therefore undertook online training in abstract painting with the renowned painter John Beckley.
Each centimeter of the linen canvas that she caresses becomes for her a door to the exploration of the inner world, revealing deep emotions, inexpressible desires and buried dreams. His painting becomes a universal language, where colors, shapes, contrasts and fades move in harmony to give life to the essence of Empedocles' four elements: earth, water, fire and air. .
The superimposed layers of his painting, developed by various processes without collage, are a call to travel, to dreams, to curiosity, to the intoxication of colors and shapes, and to the escape of figurative thought. His works evoke an emancipation of the artist, an endless journey towards a universe of pure creation.
Virginie Mérimée joins the philosophy of two great masters of painting. For Pablo Picasso, a painting only comes to life thanks to the viewer, while Jackson Pollock believed that painting was about self-discovery. Virginie shares this deep conviction, affirming that the more she paints, the closer she gets to her deep essence. She continually discovers new emotions and feelings that encourage her to go further in her artistic exploration.
Virginie Mérimée's creativity comes to life on the blank canvas, each brushstroke revealing a new aspect of her inner being. Color becomes its language, going beyond words and even dictionaries. With each work, she invites the viewer to delve into her emotional world, discover the mysteries of her soul and lose herself in the beauty of abstraction.
