An outstanding Ukrainian artist, who was nicknamed the "Van Gogh of modern times". Some of them are in the collections of Ternopil Regional Art Museum, Ternopil Regional Museum of Local Lore, as well as in private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
Viktor Makarov is a bright representative of Ukrainian postimpressionism. Warm tones, cozy shades, pleasant flicker of light from the master of landscape, who inherited the best of European and Ukrainian schools.
Impressionism Makarov skillfully displays the spirit of nature, which literally comes to life on his paintings - the leaves trembling on the trees, like the flame of a candle, a cheerful cloud, trapped in a frame, asking to fly, fresh spring leaves poured with color from the sun kisses and wind, like a bow, plays the song of the forest. How many paintings - so much mood and joy to life.

Was born March 20, 1932 in Krivoy Rog (Dnepropetrovsk region), in the family of a miner. At the age of 14 I moved to Ternopil. After the miners' terraces here in Galicia, the young Makarov was struck by the lush greenery, the colorfulness of the sky. Impressed so much that he wanted to splash out his feelings. Found a brush and paper, which have become his dearest friends for life. So, the novice painter got interested in drawing. And since not far from home was located art studio, his mother decided to take him to the artists to assess whether the son really has a talent, or it's just a whim. He took a naive little drawing with him, and one of the artists dipped his brush in paint and handed it to him: "Come on, paint a well. He drew, and this "exam" was enough for the already famous painters Alexei Zavadtsev and Viktor Pavlov to agree to take him on as a student.
He worked and learned from the masters of their craft. And, as he often repeats - from nature, it is from her the artist absorbed all its manifestations. This allowed Makarov to convey with love colors on the canvas and leave in each work a piece of the mood of his soul.
