The series “Chasing Rainbows” is about the perception of the world of feelings. No one feels exactly the one emotion at the time, it’s always the crazy waterfall with undertones of sensations. And this rainbow of feelings Van Lanigh interprets in her works by running away from the real world of colours to the imaginary universe of impressions.

Van Lanigh is a Russian artist based in the Netherlands, known for her unique approach to art that blends realism and abstractionism through the lens of subconscious exploration. Her difficult childhood, marked by abusive parents, led her to escape into an imaginary world at a young age, beginning with her first attempt to run away from home at just seven years old. This escape from reality became a coping mechanism for her anxiety, fostering a remarkable spatial visualization ability that propelled her into the art world.
At sixteen, she left home for the last time to pursue an artistic career, eventually moving to the Netherlands two years later. Her work is a process of releasing emotions, aiming to connect the complex elements of reality and the mind. Van Lanigh's art is rooted in her continuous search for peace within chaos, striving to depict the complexities of the human experience through a blend of realism and abstract elements.
Her work, which she describes as Metarealism, is defined by a multi-dimensional perception of reality in pursuit of subconscious happiness. This concept has become the core idea of her artistic expression, allowing her to explore a deeper understanding of the human mind and emotional state.
Van Lanigh’s pieces are part of private collections across the United States, Germany, France, Russia, South Korea, Romania, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom
