Valérie Borgel, mosaic as a therapy of harmony and a sublime art of recycling
Marketing consultant and creator of international brands, Valérie Borgel has always had in her professional career a playground for her inspiration, her sense of creativity. The one who grew up in Paris, lived in Spain and settled in Savoie, the art dormant between her life lines was waiting for its time, between poetic reading and sensory traveling in the alleys of her Mediterranean childhood. The mosaic entered her life late, like a word in a conversation that she would have kept on the tip of her tongue for a long time.
She then begins by breaking and assembling pieces of ceramics, glass pastes, Briare enamel tesserae, broken church windows, shards of plates found at flea markets, pieces of fragmented jewelry, pearls. A joyful bazaar of colors and materials that she brings together in the direction of her inspiration. With wires she draws silhouettes, landscapes, brings into the world small scenarios populated with characters like a farandole of feelings.
A marked penchant for natural supports, she recovers slates from old roofs, river stones, and wooden planks. This world that she nicely calls Mosaïc Pueblo, like the reinvented village of these emotions. Between sketched kisses, multi-colored dancers, and contemplative characters between the elegance of the curves and their colorful whispers, Valérie Borgel offers a creative universe that is only the echo of a skillfully confessed passion. By chance during her meetings, charmed relatives order commemorative stones from her to pay a last colorful tribute to their dear departed, she then also plunges her talent into funeral art
"Mosaic is truly therapeutic and profound, because it brings together in us all the contradictory facets of our being, our history, our impulses, our happiness, our mistakes and our doubts and all our aspirations become a single painting, an imperfect reflection of a part of what we are or would like to be."
