Urs Fischer

Urs Fischer (born 1973) is a Swiss-born contemporary visual artist currently living in New York and Los Angeles. His artistic practice spans sculpture, installation, photography, and digital art. Fischer is known for his innovative and subversive approach, blending diverse materials and techniques, including artificial intelligence and computational systems, to create works that defy traditional classification.

Born in Zurich to a family of doctors, Fischer studied at the Schule für Gestaltung in Zurich, specializing in photography. Over the years, he has lived and worked in various cities, including Amsterdam, London, Berlin, New York, and Los Angeles. His first solo exhibition took place in 1996 in Zurich, marking the beginning of a successful international career. Fischer is now regarded as one of the most important contemporary artists, known for his large-scale installations and works that have sold for millions of dollars worldwide.
