Cheong Tuck Wai (b. 1979, Malaysia) embarked on his artistic journey by obtaining a Diploma in Illustration from Dasein Academy of Art, Kuala Lumpur, in 2001. Subsequently, from 2002 to 2004, he pursued studies in fine art, all the while teaching the subject concurrently. He currently holds the position of senior part-time lecturer in Dasein's Fine Art department. His artistic focus revolves around mixed media figure painting.

Seeking equilibrium between the intellect and the soul, Cheong delves into the realm of memory, portraying humans, scenes, objects, and materials to craft images that evoke the essence of abandonment or desolation. The weathered and worn texture of his surfaces yields a captivating patina, exuding an aesthetic intrigue that envelops the atmosphere, compelling viewers to reflect upon the passage of time and its transient nature.

His artistic innovation centers around the theme of memory, wherein individuals, subjects, scenes, and objects are vividly portrayed and given definition. He skillfully employs an array of mixed materials to depict imagery and evoke sensations of abandonment, desolation, or discardment. This endeavor is driven by his intention to infuse his work with a unique aesthetic allure and atmosphere, cultivated over time, while also prompting viewers to engage in contemplation regarding the mutable nature of consumption value and its transmutation.
