Original Artwork refers to any work that is considered authentic and not a copy or imitation of the original works of an artist. Original artwork can be any type of painting, sculpture, performance, or other media. There are many types of original media. Mixed media includes oil, acrylic, and watercolor paintings. For workshop paintings that bear evidence of master craftsmanship, this attribution must be further qualified. While they may be less valuable for different reasons, reproductions and copies have had a tremendous impact on our experience. They reach a greater audience than originals and act as a tonic against commodification. Original Artwork could also refer to the first work, which is always preceding all others. It could also refer to a prototype or a model from which other works can be made. Each work bears great similarities to the original.

My name is Carolyn McFann; an artist, writer and illustrator, with over twenty years' experience in doing realistic artwork for publications, novelty items, and more. My training was at the Rochester Institute of Technology, in New York but have also taken supplementary courses at Carnegie-Mellon University, Cleveland Institute of Art and Cleveland State University.

My area of art expertise is in natural subjects such as animals and plants but I welcome other subjects as well. Having studied nature in great detail throughout my life, my knowlege of botany and zoology is extensive. Past projects of mine have included shows at places like the National Aviary, and projects for the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. My knowledge of animals and plants has been important in creating subjects that are both lifelike and realistic. Years ago, I lived and worked in Cancun, Mexico when working as the main illustrator for a large nature park there. Throughout my life, I have photographed and drawn nature, and working there was paradise, due to the abundance of tropical flora and fauna all around me.
