Hello, my name is Héctor Sandoval and I live in a beautiful country place called Campos de Doñihue 26 km away from the city of Rancagua in Chile. I am a self-taught artist who is passionate about all forms of artistic expression. I started very young to devote myself to art in my hometown, Iquique, where unfortunately being an artist in those years was synonymous with being a vagabond or junkie. After trying for some time I abandoned my passion for the second thing I liked and what was good, the computer programming, which was more appreciated and well paid and also require a high dose of creativity as well.
After years of working in IT for more than 20 years and after losing my job a little over a year ago I decided to follow my heart and dedicate myself 100% to what I'm really passionate about, creativity in all the ways I feel it, either through drawing, painting, sculpture and the design of art toys.
It has been difficult to start "so late" to resume my passion, but better late than never. In the years in which I started art, it was a very difficult way of life and there were very few opportunities to make your work known. Today, with Internet and social networks, multiple paths are opened which through perseverance and hard work I am confident in developing my creative potential and bring that granite of beauty and creativity for so long locked in my being.
My inspiration comes from observing my surroundings. The textures, the surfaces and the reflections that the game of light and shadows play on objects are what awaken my interest and sensitivity. There is so much beauty in everything that surrounds us that even the most inhospitable places on the planet such as the Tarapaca desert in Chile, my country, is brimming with life and beauty. It does not matter where we are, if we look closely at our surroundings we will be able to recognize the beauty which allows us to find the inner peace that is so necessary for us.
