Biography
FR - Tjerk Reijinga est né à Hilversum, en 1955, d'une famille créative. C'est donc sans surprise qu'après une carrière dans l'industrie de la communication, il se lance dans la peinture en 1994.
Son appréciation et son admiration pour et pour les maîtres anciens du XVIIe siècle l'ont inspiré à maîtriser la technique spécifique du "trompe l’œil" et à la reproduire dans des natures mortes, des marines et des peintures murales. Au fil des années, son style s'est davantage développé dans le sens d'un réalisme magique.
Ses peintures font partie de collections (privées) de musées, d'entreprises, de cabinets d'avocats, de musées et de particuliers.
UK - I was born in Hilversum, the Netherlands, in 1955, in a family with many creative relatives so it was no surprise that, after a career in the Communication Industry, I picked up painting.
My appreciation of the great masters has inspired my technique which covers Still Lifes, Landscapes, Marines and Murals that translates as "Trompe l'oeuils". During my work, I developed my style into a more surrealistic one, combining old, 17th Century, objects with serene landscapes from this age.
Some of my paintings have been auctioned, others are housed in the collections of distinguished private persons, companies and banks.
I rarely have time to exhibit my work, since most of it has been commissioned by people from all over the world.

Museum de Buitenplaats
Museum de Buitenplaats in the Netherlands, has two of my paintings exhibited in their museum. The exposition ends March 2023.
Le musée de Buitenplaats aux Pays-Bas a exposé deux de mes peintures dans leur musée. L'exposition se termine en mars 2023.

Le noyau de la collection du Museum De Buitenplaats est formé par l'art réaliste et figuratif des Pays-Bas vers 1945. Le couple Jos et Janneke van Groeningen a pris l'initiative de collectionner cet art. Avec cela, ils ont apporté une contribution importante à l'acceptation renouvelée de l'art figuratif dans notre pays.
Je participerai à cette importante exposition avec deux toiles.

Workshop
The method I use is the same technique as the Old Masters in the 17th Century used, namely layer over layer.
First the canvas is prepared, then the sketch is made and then the painting grows by painting layer over layer so that the skin of the painting starts to become transparent and glowing.

Motivation
My Philosophy is that I want to paint a work that I love. I don't have any other thought. The painting must contribute in a positive way, to my feeling.
I also don't believe in dictating a style to other people! There are so many beautiful pieces of art on this planet, and there are so many people on this planet, that there is enough room to let your own feeling talk!
