Biography
Stephen Conroy is a contemporary British artist. After leaving Wimbledon School of Art, where I studied sculpture and discovered my lack of ability in this subject, I went on to do a number of jobs including teaching art. After a couple of decades I decided that I wanted to be a full-time artist.
My work is created from the simplest of elements; rectangles, circles, triangles and lines. Add to these elements a love of pure, bright colour and you have the essence of my work. I believe in the intuitive and I allow my emotions and instincts to guide the process of adding and removing shapes and colours until a composition is finally achieved. I am influenced by the art of Kandinsky and Mondrian and I am about to embark on a series of nudes influenced by Matisse.

Ich betrachte Geometric Abstract Study I sehr gerne und es hat viele Gedanken und Eindrücke in mir geweckt.
Die lebendigen, kräftigen Farben und geometrischen Formen bilden eine Art Stadtplan, der mir wie eine Karte für eine freie Improvisation erscheint. In meiner Vorstellung kann man regelrecht darin spazieren gehen, die Wege erkunden und sich vom Farbverlauf leiten lassen. Die klare Formgebung und die sonnige, erheiternde Stimmung, die das Bild ausstrahlt, wecken in mir ein Gefühl von Freiheit und Abenteuer.
Ich wünsche Ihnen stets Inspiration und Freude am Schaffen, Alexandra Busch.

I really enjoy looking at Geometric Abstract Study I and it has awakened many thoughts and impressions in me.
The vibrant, strong colors and geometric shapes form a kind of city map that seems to me like a map for free improvisation. In my imagination, you can literally walk through it, explore the paths and let the color gradient guide you. The clear design and the sunny, cheerful mood that the picture radiates awaken a feeling of freedom and adventure in me.
