It is likely that Juan Sly has become the biggest seller of original artwork in the UK. An artist exhibiting primarily in stencils and oils. He has exhibited at the Saatchi (a gallery with pillars and everything!) alongside Banksy, Terry O'Neil, Tracy Emin and Vic Reeves and now has permanent collections in Germany, Detroit and the UK, alongside Damien Hirst and some other artists you may have heard of as well as private collections around the world. His works range from humorous to anti-war, from sexual to the unreal. Particularly fond of the stencil medium as it allows him to respond quickly to events and ideas and gives the work a gritty, illegal look. Stencils naturally allow work to be repainted and thus become affordable and disposable. He likes the fact that people can buy art they like and not show off how much they can afford. You can find them in bedsits, legal offices in the Temple or stuck to a fence in Bristol.
