This church, belonging to the Roman Catholic, is called Church of the Primacy of St Peter and is located on the northern shore of the Sea of Galilee. Throughout history, this church has been destroyed multiple times, and the existing building was constructed by the Franciscans in 1933, incorporating some foundations from a 4th-century church. Pilgrims from the 9th century referred to this place as the "charcoal place," implying a connection with making fire. In front of the altar in the church, there is a large limestone rock known as the "Table of the Lord" (Latin: Mensa Christi). Tradition holds that this is the place where, after his resurrection, Christ appeared to his disciples for the third time and prepared breakfast by lighting a charcoal fire. It is also where Christ asked Peter three times, "Do you love me?" Peter, who had denied Jesus three times in the past, no longer boasted, "Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you." This time, he simply responded three times, "Lord, you know that I love you." The Catholic Church officially considers Jesus' response to Peter, "Feed my lambs..." as one of the bases for the establishment of the papal system. After this encounter, Peter did not become a "manager" to govern his brothers just because he was "the head." Instead, he devoted himself wholeheartedly to shepherding the people entrusted to him by Christ. In the end, he was also crucified, continually demonstrating his love for Christ through his actions.
