'Born to the purple' (2023) Painting by Sapphire Sk

Sapphire SK is a contemporary Pakistani-born painter currently engaged in full-time painting from her home studio in Cyberjaya, Malaysia. She has been pursuing her painting passion for many years & presently making the leap to a career in art. 

As well as being a professional artist educated to bachelors level, she is also a qualified interior designer. She also undertook private lessons from a well known local artist throughout the completion of her degree in Fine Art. 

The colours, the drawings, forms, movement, all dictate the development of her work. The artworks she creates are based on fleeting ideas, vision & experiences. The trickiest gestural abstraction piques her interest & challenges her the most as she begins with a leap of faith, gradually developing an idea into a finished work. Traditionally trained in several versatile mediums, her preference is oil and with variety of brushwork, impasto and thin glazes, her bold & loose brushstrokes try to communicate visually with suggestions rather than trying to describe everything in precise detail.

Sapphire has developed abstract expressionist style over years & finds it truly compelling. The art of colour mixing, unique mark making & paint manipulations were learnt through practice & patience. Her artworks that depict nature are powerful, & instantly take us back to the natural environment, away from concrete & steel. She tries to bring herself close to the truer & purer form of creativity using innate and apparent need to represent an idea.
