Sandy Lau began gaining interest in the creative arts at a young age and she obtained a diploma in Graphic Design from Malaysia Institute of Art (MIA). She began her career as a graphic designer, after many years later she began engaging in the fine arts industry and successfully carved out a name in the art scene. Sandy ecstatically exhibits her artworks in various group exhibitions and solo exhibitions and she continues to do so today.
“The Rhythm of Life” is a series of Solo Exhibition artworks by Sandy that express the modest truths in life. A Life that embraces our needs, our deepest desires, our unique talents, and manifest into harmonious, blissful, passionate, purposeful energy.
Her works depict the life of local folks against the cultural backdrops of the country, where people live in harmony with nature. The subject of her vibrant arts centers around the rustic kampung environment and blooming flora such as tropical flora and wildlife. Flowers symbolise geniality, euphoria and abundance, while the birds, butterflies and cats in her art pieces convey the sentiments of joy, contentment and hope in life.
Inspired by the beauty and humble settings of natural surroundings, she uses the vibrancy and harmony of colours in her various expressions of life – conceived with raw freedom, pleasure, energy and originality.
Most of the compositions of her works are symbolic of tranquil harmony in nature. To bring the paintings to life, Sandy applied delicate brush and knife strokes to create layers of rich textures in her aesthetically mesmerising art pieces.
