Sandrine Royer, born in 1985, lives and works in France. A graduate in Graphic Arts and Visual Communication from École Bellecour in Lyon, the first French school specializing in design and entertainment professions, she quickly established herself as a talented and passionate artist.
His preferred medium includes graphite on paper, charcoal on paper and watercolor on paper. His style is marked by the representation of famous personalities and the impressionist drawing of landscapes. Inspired by Caravaggio's technique, Sandrine is seduced by the precision of the details, the sometimes brutal realism and the marked use of chiaroscuro. She thus turns to a series of black and white portraits, creating images where time seems to have erased certain parts, leaving only the essential features to sublimate the expression.
Passionate about drawing since a young age, Sandrine was able to develop her sense of creation and her curiosity by drawing inspiration from pop culture and its exotic influences. She pays homage to these universes through her art, mixing science fiction and medieval fantasy heroes, creating a soft and comforting place of escape, where imagination takes over.
For Sandrine, art is an escape, a way of coming together and bringing her characters to life. As she says so well, “The drawing develops by representing the volume through the shadows, it is necessary for the shadow to create the light.” Empathetic and spiritual, his work reflects his unique artistic vision, where each stroke is an exploration of light and shadow, and where each work is a window into a daydream.
